Electric Gates Ayrshire

The two ways of operating electric gates at Ayrshire properties

Electric gates at any property can be a stylish and wise investment. They can really set the tone for your property, as well as provide additional security and safety for you, your family and pets.

However, the automatic nature of these gates can sometimes leave people a little mystified. How do they work? How do they seem to sweep so effortlessly open and closed?

How electric gates at Ayrshire properties operate

Essentially, there is a power supply to the gates that enables them to open and close. Most people opt for them to be connected to the mains electricity supply to their property but, solar powered gates are becoming an increasingly reliable option.

Solar panels have come on in leaps and bounds in recent years, thus their increased sophistication means that they offer a reliable supply of power to batteries. These batteries then provide the power is a usable format to open and close the gates.

There are also cases where a series of cables, filled with water have also been used to open and close gates. This hydro system works by increasing the water in the pipes under pressure so that the gates are ‘forced’ shut or open.

True to say, the simpler the operating format of electric gates at Ayrshire properties, the more reliable and simpler they are to maintain.

Gaining access

There are two main ways to gain access to your property;

  • Keypad – this involves inputting a unique code that tells the system the person attempting to gain entry is authorised to do so. You give the code to the people who you think need it and, if you are frightened of forgetting the number, you will have the back-up of the gate installer.
  • Remote control – another way of gaining access is a remote control fob that can either be fitted to the inside of your cars or on keyrings. When you depress the fob button, it sends a signal to the receiver on the gate telling it to open.

These are the ways that people gain entry to a property. Most automatic gates installed at Ayrshire homes will have a pressure pad in your side, which means when it detects a vehicle on the pad, the gates will open.

Can you combine them both?

It can be possible to combine both systems, but it may cost more to include both. The choice, however, is yours.
